VERSILIA in Tuscany
|Lying along the coastal shore of Tuscany, in the province of Lucca, Versilia is one of the most fascinating area of the entire Region.The Versilia coastline stretches across roughly 165 km of beaches and mountains. He was touched dalla Via Emilia Scauri, and crossed by the Via Aurelia. During the medieval era through the inside, along the South-East North-West, by Via Francigena. A major literary figure who attended the Versilia at the beginning of900 was Gabriele DAnnunzio, who had built a huge villa in the pine forest around Pietrasanta. The poet spent the last years of his life and there he composed the most famous verses of Alcyone and wrote the Francesca da Rimini.The diversity and richness of Versilia is found in the proximity of two opposite powers, the sea and the mountain: the chain of the Apuan Alps rises in the background no more than 15 kilometers far away from the shore in which the incessant work of man is recognizable.
